Millennium Development Model Villages
The Shankar Rural Development Foundation (SRDF) is dedicated to sustainable rural development covering social, economic and environmental aspects by using the Participatory Action Management (PAM) model in Andhra Pradesh. SRDF was founded by Dr. Shankariah and Mrs. Shakuntala Chamala (from Brisbane Australia) in February 1999. Since then, we have engaged in a range of projects, particularly in health , education and environmental programs in Chilver (birthplace of Dr. Chamala). In 2006-07, SRDF adopted Dannur village (birthplace of Dr. Venkatram Reddy Patlolla (from Texas,USA). In 2007 SRDF signed an M.O.U. with National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) an action research project to achieve 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDG) by 2015 in – Chilver and Dannur villages 98km from Hyderabad. This year we initiated community forestry planting (with Department of Forestry) and total sanitation program (with Niramal Puraskar government program). Bridging the Digital divide is also part of the project.
